Now it is possible to precisely specify items of a trademark intended to protect typical Brazilian goods and services, once WIPO included 668 new items to the Madrid Goods and Services Manager.
The famous Brazilian alcoholic beverage caipirinha and dish feijoada, besides the well-known musical genre samba are some of the items added to the MGS Manager.
Besides honoring Brazilian tradition, culture and the vast list of food, such a measure should prevent Foreign Trademark Offices from granting trademarks comprising terms that directly relate to goods and services originating in Brazil.
Very good news, indeed!
